Hi, I’m V
I’m a senior studying film theory at The University of Southern California. Recently, I realized that I had spent most of my academic career researching film history and writing ten page papers on the evolution of genres and boring bits like that. In other words, no one really wants to know about your personal opinion, they just want to hear my hot take on how Hitler caused Film Noir.
So, instead of yet another film history course, I took a chance on a class called “Practicum in Film Criticism” taught by the lovely NPR critic, Ella Taylor. Instead of holing up my film reviews, I’ve decided to keep notes on the films that I watch throughout the year so that I don’t drive myself mad while force-feeding myself the latest edition of David and Bordwell.
I hope that you all enjoy my thoughts and I hope to hear from all of yours as well. Occasionally, I may even share my own projects. (You really think I’d go to film school and not make my own films??)
Be forewarned, I’m not an expert, but I am a girl who loves the movies. So, sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the show.
